Well here it is, the game we have been waiting for since the tournament started. If we get this game, we will have achieved the goal I set out for us at the beginning of the tournament of 40 units.

UNC over Gonzaga
You have to give UNC a lot of credit, it’s hard enough to get to a National Title game let alone doing it in back to back seasons, but that is exactly what they have done. We saw this same dynamic earlier in the year with Clemson doing the same thing in the football national championship (where they ultimately got redemption) and I look for this UNC to do the same.
The Zags are very good and I am not taking anything away from them, but they played in the WCC while UNC plays in the ACC, the best conference in the land. The Zags also had a much easier road to get to this game which makes them a little overrated. In their past two games they beat #11 Xavier and #8 South Carolina while UNC beat #2 Kentucky and #3 Oregon. I know you can only beat who they place in front of you but there is no denying that UNC is the more battle tested team who found ways to win two very close games to get here.
The huge edge here is the experience factor. This can’t be overlooked and it plays a huge role. Roy Williams is coaching in his sixth NCAA Championship Game while this is Mark Few’s first. There are still a lot of guys on this UNC team who felt the heartbreak of last year’s buzzer beating defeat and have a once in a life time opportunity to make up for those shattered dreams. UNC has been in this spot before so there’s not that feeling of the unknown and that is big edge.
Gonzaga had a great year playing with a lot of transfer players, but I just don’t think they are good enough to beat this extremely talented and very experience UNC team. Small conference schools just don’t win these tournaments. Roy Williams is too good of a coach to go down in back to back years. As a fan of the game you want to see Gonzaga win, but as a fan of money there is no denying UNC is the right side.
UNC has the overall talent edge, superior athletes, the experience factor, and they will be highly motivated after last year’s last second loss in this game. I think a lot of people are going to be shocked by the final score as UNC ultimately wins this game by double digits. Take UNC.
If you took the +700 future, just let that ride.
The only reason you should even consider hedging this bet is if losing the risk would seriously impact your bank roll. In my opinion hedging this bet is just a waste of money. If UNC wins I will win over $7k and haven’t hedged a penny. Yes, I am that confident.
If you joined late and didn’t take the future:
If I didn’t have all of the futures I do this would be a 5-10 unit play. Not going to make an official call on this game unit wise but I would say make the maximum bet that you can make given your bank roll.
Good luck and Go HEELS!
